Hi Sean,

With all the wonderful things I've heard about you, it saddens me to know that I didn't get to meet you. Despite the fact that we never got acquainted, it hurts my heart to have lost such a strong, loving individual that stole the hearts of so many MIT community members.

I don't want to grieve anymore. Instead, I choose to take with me the memory of a great man who was loved by so many, and the inspiration to do good. You showed MIT your dedication to protecting the people you love, a quality I admire and hope to emulate to the fullest extent.

And, maybe, we can all work together to make the world a more caring and compassionate place. For you, and for everyone else.

Thanks for everything.

My condolences to the entire MIT Campus Police force on the loss of Officer Collier, and to his family as well. As a student I had little direct interaction with the CPs -- a friendly greeting in the Infinite Corridor, a ride home across the river after SafeRide had stopped running, return of a wallet lost somewhere on campus -- but they were always friendly, helpful, and looking out for the MIT community. Thank you all of this service, and to Officer Collier for giving his ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Sean,
Thank you for your efforts to protect MIT and its students. May you rest in peace and may God give strength to your family to endure such a horrible loss.
I hope all this nonsense committed in the name of Islam stops. Human life is the most precious factor in every religion. Islam is no different.

As a wife of a former police officer, I understand the dangers being faced daily by our law enforcement agencies. So it is painful when I hear that another one of our dedicated officers is taken so suddenly and unexpectedly. My heart goes out to Sean's family and those that love him. Rest in peace Sean. And God bless your family and bring them comfort and peace.

As an alum and frequent CP safe rider back in the day, I am forever indebted to the MIT Campus Police for keeping me, my friends, classmates, and everyone on campus safe and free from harm. At a time when there are no words to express the grief and pain being suffered, I hope that everyone can find solace in the memories we have as well as in the support of friends and strangers who understand our heavy hearts and allow us to lean upon them. The entire MIT community and the Collier family are in my heart and thoughts.

Surely you will rest in heaven, because you served your country at the highest level one can ask. My prayers go out to your family that they will find peace in the knowledge that you died doing what you loved the most, protecting others.

I seen this comment on the Channel 5 News Facebook Page. It's a request from Leann Rose Strait to have her friend Ruth Louise Emens Schuler message shared on Facebook in hopes that Sean's Family would see it. I hope that by me adding it here that it somehow reaches his family as well.

Ruth Louise Emens Schuler wrote this in memory of Officer Sean Collier, please share and pass along in hopes it will get to his family and friends and bring them some comfort:

Now I lay me down to rest.
God knows I did my very best.
I served with honor, dignity, and pride,
For the people, side by side.
Do not weep, I serve HIM now,
Like I promised you when I made that vow.
To keep you safe and feel protected.
I am not gone, I've been redirected.
I'm on watch with HIM as an angel above,
And I have fine duty here,
There is infinite love!
R.I.P. Officer Sean Collier

Although it is many years since I was at MIT, I remember the vital role that the MIT Police play on campus and was shocked to hear of this terrible news. My deepest sympathy to Office Collier's family and to all who knew him.

When I saw the picture of Sean Collier on the Internet last Friday (4/19) my heart sank. In fact, I had known Sean thanks to his out of the ordinary kindness. When I go home in the evening, often late in the evening, I still expect to meet him in one of the corridors to the Stata Building on my way home. I liked him and I will miss seeing him.

The MIT Campus Police are, and always were, there for the students and faculty. In the spring of my freshman year I fell ill and was about to collapse in the Infinite Corridor. Seemingly out of nowhere, a campus patrolman caught me before I hit the floor and got me to Medical. Sean Collier was in the tradition of that man whom I remember only as "Bob." Rest in peace, Sean.

I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the family of Officer Sean Collier, and the MIT Police Department. We all know the dangers surrounding our profession, but nothing prepares you for the loss of an officer in the line of duty. May god sustain all of you during this must difficult time. As a retired law enforcement officer I stand with you may god bless America.

Sean, I didn't know you personally, but I wish I did. The more I learn about you and the very short life you lived, the more I am impressed with what an outstanding person you truly were. The MIT community was very lucky to have you and my heart goes out to all those who did have the chance to cross paths with you during your time here. I can't even imagine how much greater their feeling of loss must be.
As the daughter of a retired police officer, I have gotten small glimpses throughout my life of what both your MIT family and your related family must be experiencing. I will keep them in my thoughts and I hope that they will be comforted by wonderful memories of you and all the lives you touched while you were with us on earth.
I will remember you always and will strive to "do it right" (whatever 'it' may be at the time) in your honor.
Rest in Peace.
