Sean stood watch outside the Stata Center where my daughter and her classmates were taking an exam Thursday night. He loved and protected those kids and the entire MIT Community. I want to extend my sincerest condolences to Sean's family, his fellow officers, his friends and all at MIT. His young life, taken too soon, will never be forgotten. RIP Officer Sean.

I left MIT many years before Officer Sean Collier was born, but news of his death hurt me deeply, for he and I shared a community. I honor him for his service.

I feel there are no words to express my disbelief that I am writing this to a member of our community-- our family-- whose life was so tragically taken away. Officer, I don't know if we ever met, but please know that your dedication will not be forgotten. We will remember you and your bravery. Simply saying "thank you" does not seem adequate. I'm sorry that's all I can think of right now. What I can say is this; from here on out, I will make a more conscious effort to thank your fellow brothers and sisters of the forces who protect us. I am just sorry I never got a chance to express my gratitude while you were still here on Earth with us... in a form that we can see at least. May your burden be lifted and may you rest easy in the glory of Heaven. God bless you and your family. They have truly done a fine job in rearing a son.

Many thanks,
Chacha

I didn't know Officer Collier but, when I was a graduate resident tutor in the late 90s, I got to know a few MIT police officers and have such profound respect for them and their commitment to the MIT community. When I read about Officer Collier, it broke my heart to hear how he intervened on the side of right and paid his life for it. He represents all of the best virtues of the MIT community. Words can't express how bravely and selflessly he acted on behalf of us all. What an amazing person. What a loss for us all.

My deepest condolences to the friends, colleagues and family of Sean Collier. It is a long time since I was an undergraduate at MIT but I remember the great role played by MIT Police, looking after the sprawling campus and keeping order amidst the disorder. From all I have read about Sean Collier, it seems to me that he exemplified that high degree of service and that he had a commitment to doing his work so well. The world has lost a good officer, a good professional and above all a good soul.

I did not have the opportunity to meet this young officer, but everything I read and learn makes it clear that his loss to such a senseless act is a tragedy. What a model human being whose character and supreme service will be remembered. Thank you.

When I saw the picture of Officer Collier, I had a feeling I had met him at my 30-year MIT reunion in June 2012. I went through my pictures, and found my picture of him, which I have posted to the MIT Class on 1982 30th Reunion Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/362768607077086/?fref=ts

I asked him if he was there to make sure we didn't get out of hand. He smiled at my joke.

Though I only met him briefly that night, I was happy to see such a fine young man protecting the MIT Community.

My condolences to his family and friends.

Although it has been many years since I was a student, I will always remember the professionalism, the helpfulness, and especially the kindness of the MIT Police to those of us who were away from home for the first time. Sean Collier has continued that tradition and I am so sorry for his sacrifice.

May his heroic deed and sacrifice be remembered as one of the many steps taken to right the wrongs committed in this despicable act of violence against the City of Boston and its people.

Deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to Officer Colliers' family and loved ones.

My heart breaks for Officer Collier and for his family. Too many good people are dying while the PC police refuse to name and shame and resist those who despise us and would kill us. is there a memorial fund being established to support Officer Collier's family?
