My deepest sympathy and prayers are with you and your family. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends". You proven again how a man, doing his job, becomes a hero to an entire nation. Somerville should have got to have you as a sworn officer. I honestly wish God had arranged it otherwise, so that old men like myself were called instead of fine young people like you! -John Werneken, Class of 1970

My deepest sympathies to Officer Sean Collier Family and Fellow Officers of MIT Police Department.
My heart is full of sorrow as I have an entrenched relation with police life and bravery. I've been 21 years and the last 10 as President of the Circulo de Amigos de Carabineros de Chile (name of Chile's Police). A civil organization that supports and share the values of Chilean Police.

Over the past week I have been watching the sad events unfold in the city of Boston and was so saddened to hear of the loss of life to Officer Collier. I live in Wisconsin and do not not know him but can only grieve for his family and friends. I have a friend who is an officer at another college in MA and just wanted to express my gratitude for his dedication to his job and that I am so sorry for the pain that his family and friends have to endure. Even though there are so many of us that have not known him personally, he will always be missed whenever anyone talks or thinks about this time in Boston's history. My condolences to the family.

"This is my commandment, That you love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

On April 18th, Officer Sean Collier showed how much he cared, how much he loved his fellow man, that he put himself in harms way for our sons and daughters at MIT. A debt we can never repay, and a debt we can never forget.

When you see a police officer today, don't just walk by him or her, say "thank you," thank you in honor of Officer Collier. God's speed Sean.

Sergeant David Herrera (Ret.), Inglewood Police Department, Inglewood, CA.

When things are quiet and no madmen on the loose it's easy for us to forget the danger officers face. We'll never forget Officer Collier.

University security personnel require that special understanding of the complex life of the academic setting and the stresses associated with it. It takes a special person to walk that fine line and be one with that community. Thank you, Sean.
