I never met Sean but I've read so many wonderful things in the past few days of his dedicated, loyal, fun-loving spirit that I wish I had. His service is so appreciated by the whole MIT community. My sincerest condolences to his family and those closest to him in this time of heartbreak. He will not be forgotten.

The C. P.s were always an understanding & involved presence in my 4 years at the Institute. My biggest emergency involved babysitting the Houtsma's infant at East Campus. She had colic, and the Campus Patrol took me to medical infirmary near Baker Hall with her. They confirmed she was a healthy crying baby, and on the way back to EC in the Police Car, she calmed down & started giggling. Their compassion & common sense assured me & my parents too that MIT was as wonderful as its reputation. Thank you for your service, Officer Collier!

A small piece of every police officer has died. When a brother or sister officer
falls victim to the acts of terrorists or criminals, it affects every police officer.
We all knew what was expected of us when we swore the oath and pinned on
the badge but it still does not minimize the hurt when one of our own is
killed in the line of duty. I consider myself fortunate to have completed over
30 years of service as a police officer, relatively unscathed. Even retired, I still feel
the pain of the loss of a fellow officer. Remember those that represent the
"thin blue line", between safety and anarchy and do it willingly. Officer Collier
was at the beginning of his career and gave his life for the safety of others.
My heart goes out to Officer Collier's family, friends and Brother and
Sister officers.
Rest in Peace, Brother.

I am writing to extend my deepest condolences to Mr. Collier's family, friends, and fellow officers. I am an MIT alumna who worked closely with the wonderful campus police and the MIT administration many years ago as the student liaison on a task-force to launch the saferides transport service that is still in existence today. The campus police were wonderful partners then and still are today, risking their lives every day to protect the Institute and its constituents. My thoughts and prayers are with this brave officer's family, with his fellow officers, and with the entire MIT campus.

I am the father of a junior at the Institute. The events of this last week have stunned our little world and the world at large. It was with great sadness that my son, a junior at the institute, and I, followed the story throughout the night of April 18th, connected by telephone. I am struck by the honorable resolve and the dedication to duty demonstrated by Officer Collier, a truly admiral man. The institute, the students and their parents will be forever indebted to honor his memory. On behalf of two very touched and grateful parents, I offer my sincere condolences.

Deepest condolences to Sean's family, friends, and colleagues, after this awful turn of events. I'm sure I'm like many other alumni who feel a deep connection to Boston and to Cambridge and to all of the good people at MIT, and who are at a loss for what to do with the overwhelming emotions. My heart goes out to you and I wish you all the best as you begin to heal after this unimaginable loss.
