I extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Officer Collier and to the Institute. Decades have passed since my tenure at MIT, but I will always remember the professionalism, friendliness, and bemused tolerance displayed by the CPs towards all the quirky members of the MIT community. I would like to think that Sean might have been one of the CPs who patiently explained to members of Concourse that creating an ice rink on the roof of Building 35 was probably not the best of ideas. I salute you, Officer Collier.

History gives us many examples in which individuals or group of individuals have attempted to remove by force the world of freedom and justice cherished by other people. In similar fashion, the goodwill and sense of duty of individuals have once and again taken over to protect the "many" against the "few". As a free community we feel proud of deeds such as that carried out by Officer Collier, even though it came at a great cost. May his life and ultimate sacrifice serve to remind us of the values we treasure and of their vulnerability.

To Sean's family, friends and fellow officers,
We know that there are no words to express the depth of loss you are experiencing.
As parents of a child who attends, and loves, MIT, we are deeply saddened by Sean's ultimate sacrifice.
We hope you will accept our deepest condolences for your loss and deepest appreciation for the job that Sean, and fellow officers, provided for our MIT kids.

The MIT family encompasses and embraces so many. We now reach out to embrace each other at this time.

May you grieve in your own time and in your own way.

My sympathy to Sean's family, friends, colleagues. It is a huge loss and I thank Sean for his sacrificing his life so that we can be safe. It was his loss that lead to these death and capture of the marathon bombers. Amazing till the very end, RIP Sean.

I wish to extend my deepest sympathies to the family, friends and fellow officers of MIT Police Officer Sean Collier and the entire MIT community. I am truly sorry for your loss and pray for all of you. Losing an officer in the line of duty can never be easy nor will Sean be forgotten, but I also know that he exemplified the meaning of a great campus police officer - an officer who strove to interact with his University community in a positive way while still serving and protecting everyone. Please also accept the sympathies of my fellow officers at Northwestern University Police Department.

I am truly saddened by this young officer's untimely departure. My prayer is that the God of all comfort will be with his family during this difficult time. He left this world as an emblem of justice and courage in the face of grave cowardice and evil. It is right to remember such men.
