It is those who aim to serve their fellow humans, and by offering that service, who are always among the first targets of those who would do evil. Soldiers, police offices, and other first responders place themselves and their lives between the citizen and the dark chaos that lies beyond the standards of peaceful and civil behavior. When "life is good" we loose sight of these men and women and really see them only when their duty, honor and day-to-day courage is needed. But they stand ready daily none the less and should not be forgotten.

May peace be upon you Sean.

All of us here at MIT are constantly out and about at all hours of the night, sometimes forgetting that the reason we can do this safely is thanks to the hard working men and women of the police force. Thank you so much, Officer Collier. You will be missed, and your sacrifice and name will never be forgotten. My thoughts are with the family and friends of Officer Collier; he was a great man, and will forever remain one of our heroes.

Sean - You have left such a profound affect on all of us by the way you lived your life. My father was MDC Sargent Detective Armando Lucarelli.who in his early years as an officer patrolled the Charles River. I am sure you will have a good friend on the other side of the river. Your family and brothers in blue should know they are in our hearts and prayers and that your legacy will live on at MIT.

To the Collier family and friends:

I am truly saddened by the terrible chain of events that included the loss of your son, cousin, friend... We can only hope that his passing will come to mean something more to all of us and to help give purpose to those that currently sacrifice their lives to protect others, as Sean did. Please find solace in your faith and support each other like I imagine he would have wanted.

Our deepest sympathy to Officer Sean Collier's loved ones and the MIT community. We've been surrounded by images of senseless violence and unbearable pain, but we look at Sean's photo and in that one image, and in all that has been said of him, we are reminded that most people are good, even brave. His death was senseless, but Sean and his life's promise gives us hope. God bless you, Sean; God bless us all; and God bless America.
