Sean Collier | MIT Police Officer • April 18, 2013

Thanks to officers like Sean Collier, I always felt completely safe walking around campus even at 1AM back when I attended MIT. MIT Police officers were some of the most competent and influential members in the law enforcement community. I am saddened and angered by this senseless violence against someone who only wanted to do good for the community. Hats off to you, Officer Collier, and thank you for your sacrifice! May you rest in peace.

I am an MIT alumna and a long time admirer of MIT Campus police. Because I left campus some time ago, I did not have the opportunity to know Officer Collier, but I felt obliged to share my respect for the campus police in general, and my gratitude for all the support they provided while I was there: safe rides home et al. I'm sure Sean continued to serve with balance and courage.

My condolences to the Collier family and to the officers he served with.

The MIT Campus Police are an important part of MIT - by maintaining the right balance of authority and compassion, they have protected and served thousands of MIT students throughout the years. Officer Collier was obviously a proud officer who continued that service. We offer our condolences.

Sir, I never knew you but as a fellow college/university law enforcement officer I consider you a brother. Reading all of the notes people have left here I can see you must have been a great officer and great person. I don't think people realize that we in campus law enforcement face the same dangers and situations that any other law enforcement officer faces. Your EOW came too soon. Thank you for your service.

Officer Collier’s sacrifice affects us all as a community and he will always remain a part of this very special "MIT" family.

I cannot help but believe that his sacrifice catalyzed the capture of those misguided individuals whose intent was to cause injury and mayhem and that ultimately his sacrifice was in service to the community he so solemnly swore to protect.

Though I graduated nearly 2 decades ago, the news of Officer Collier's passing deeply saddened me. Last summer, I took my entire family to Cambridge/Boston to visit. In fact, we stopped by the 7-11 and Strata Center where the tragic incident took place. This is too close to home. Officer Collier, I want to solute you for your bravery.
