Your courage is an example to everyone; its still hard to believe something like this would happen in front of Stata - a building that sprung up into existence while we were students; we were the first ones to work there. Thank you for being the wonderful person that you were. May you rest in peace

When I landed on the Campus from abroad my first contact was with the MIT police. I found these people helpful, concerned, respectuous and with many other qualities, which I understand officer Collier also showed.
Thanks to all, and to officer Collier especially, you made the experience of the US nicer than otherwise.
Condoleances to the family.

Thank you Sean for protecting the students and our beloved Stata Center. I had friends and professors in there. What a privilege for MIT to have you as a police officer. Thanks to all the policemen/policewomen who kept MIT, Cambridge, and Boston safe. You all are our heros for risking your lives for us. Thank you Sean for your ultimate sacrifice. We won't forget!

From Singapore, I am sending my condolences to the family of Officer Sean Collier.
May he rest in peace and may his bravery reminds us to treasure the community that we have in Cambridge and not take for granted, the security that students and neighbors enjoy day to day as we go on with our daily routine.

To have a son like the man I have seen described on these pages and elsewhere would be its own condolence; honor to his memory. I have a son a little younger than Officer Collier, and can imagine the grief I would feel at losing him. My deepest sympathy to Sean's parents and family, his friends and colleagues. And my thanks for his service to our communities.

You gave us everything you had,
you taught us the price of duty, responsibility, and honor,
you showed us the price that protectors pay,
we would honor your sacrifice and maintain memory of your deeds.

thank you

Sean stood watch outside the Stata Center where my daughter and her classmates were taking an exam Thursday night. He loved and protected those kids and the entire MIT Community. I want to extend my sincerest condolences to Sean's family, his fellow officers, his friends and all at MIT. His young life, taken too soon, will never be forgotten. RIP Officer Sean.

I left MIT many years before Officer Sean Collier was born, but news of his death hurt me deeply, for he and I shared a community. I honor him for his service.

I feel there are no words to express my disbelief that I am writing this to a member of our community-- our family-- whose life was so tragically taken away. Officer, I don't know if we ever met, but please know that your dedication will not be forgotten. We will remember you and your bravery. Simply saying "thank you" does not seem adequate. I'm sorry that's all I can think of right now. What I can say is this; from here on out, I will make a more conscious effort to thank your fellow brothers and sisters of the forces who protect us. I am just sorry I never got a chance to express my gratitude while you were still here on Earth with us... in a form that we can see at least. May your burden be lifted and may you rest easy in the glory of Heaven. God bless you and your family. They have truly done a fine job in rearing a son.

Many thanks,
Chacha

I didn't know Officer Collier but, when I was a graduate resident tutor in the late 90s, I got to know a few MIT police officers and have such profound respect for them and their commitment to the MIT community. When I read about Officer Collier, it broke my heart to hear how he intervened on the side of right and paid his life for it. He represents all of the best virtues of the MIT community. Words can't express how bravely and selflessly he acted on behalf of us all. What an amazing person. What a loss for us all.
