It is with a very heavy heart that I represent the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators, IACLEA, as its President, as well as being the former Chief of Police at MIT and send all of our Association's condolences to the family of the fallen police officer at MIT and all of the men and women of the MIT Police Department. The loss of an officer in the line of duty is an unspeakable tragedy. Given the recent events in Boston, it is all the more shocking.

The job of police officer in today's world, whereever that officer works, requires dedication to public safety, bravery and courage and ability to deal with the darker side of life. This officer gave his/her life in the protection of the MIT community and will forever be remembered for that ultimate sacrifice.

Again, our hearts go out the officer's family, the MIT community and people of Massachusetts struggling to deal with the tragic events that have unfolded.

With deep sympathy
Anne Glavin
President of IACLEA
Former Chief of Police, MIT
