Sean Collier

I did not have the pleasure of meeting or knowing Officer Collier. However, this is a man that, like so many others who work for law enforcement, put his life on the line on a daily basis so that the greater MIT community could be safe. It isn't just that he was a hero, he and so many like him are heros every day for doing what they do to keep the peace. This young gentleman gave himself to a career with significant risks, and he took those risks with honor and integrity. My heart goes out to his family, friends and co-workers during this terrible time of loss. His spirit lives on in the dedication and courage of those who continue to serve our communities. My thanks to Officer Collier and to those who carry on his legacy of service. May he rest in peace.

To Officer Collier's family, friends, colleagues and the college community he served- As you remember Sean, remember all of the aspects of his personality that made him who he was. He was a loving son and family member, a loyal and caring man who desired to serve. From what I have seen he was a fun living young man who enjoyed being with others. He was a well trained professional who knew what serving as a law enforcement officer meant and understood the sacrifices involved in that profession. As a retired law enforcement officer myself I ca tell you that while we all understand the ultimate sacrifice that might be required, we are able to put that away in the back of our minds so that we can focus on our chosen work. May memories of warm and happy times comfort you and may you find peace in time. As others have said, when the time is right, please find someone to talk to about your feelings - which are all "normal" but which can be hard to deal with. The law enforcement community is a family and now that family surrounds you with support and love.

My heart is broken for the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Collier. Wishing you all peace and comfort during this difficult time. A heartfelt thanks to the MIT Police Department and all law enforcement agencies who dedicate their lives to keeping us safe and protecting our communities.

To the Family and Friends of Sean Collier and the MIT Community,

Please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of what I know to be such a wonderful gentleman. As I join with you to mourn this loss, I am also morning the loss of Lu Lingzu at BU where I was formerly employed--they were two bright stars taken much too soon along with Martin Richard and Krystle Campbell. When I gaze at the stars at night, they will all forever be in my memory.

I pray you will take solace in knowing Sean will not be forgotten and will serve as an example of goodness, kindness and selfless dedication for future generations. You are in my thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time.
