Sean Collier

Thank you for your service and for keeping us safe. May your family find some peace and may the pain of losing you be eased.

Like many others, I didn't know Sean personally but am tremendously saddened by his loss, and wish to express my gratitude that he risked and ultimately sacrificed his life in order to serve and protect his city and the MIT community. As we all struggle to make sense of what happened last week and to heal, we remember those who were taken and pray for them and their families, friends and loved ones. May angels lead you in.

We have never met Sean...but right about the time you were born I became a Wilmington police officer. Our goals in life seemed to have been similar...only separated by time. I'm sorry we never met...I'm sure I would have enjoyed working with you given the chance. My condolences to your family, friends and brother and sister officers. RIP Brother.

To the Collier Family, the MIT Police Department, the MIT Community, and all First Responders: Officer Collier, like many of MIT's Finest, has many friends on the campus and, I'm certain, off the campus as well. I didn't know Officer Collier, but I had worked with MIT Campus Police on other occasions and always found the officers to be police, helpful, and very compassionate.

If things unfolded as they should have, Officer Collier would have served as a Police Officer for many years, whether at MIT or with the Somerville Police. His new beat is Heaven--never doubt, he is still on the job!

May your family find peace in this moment of sorrow. My heart is with them

I am profoundly sad for the loss of Officer Sean Collier, a generous and immensely promising young man. I am terribly sorry for the loss that this must represent for all of you in the MIT Police Department. We appreciate more than ever your selfless service and dedication to the safety of the MIT community. This is a noble cause that as we have tragically seen, can also be deadly dangerous. Please receive by most sincere sympathies.

I see MIT police patrolling our campus every day. I am not sure if I met Sean, but I know he made all our lives more safe, and gave his life so we could pursue our dreams. I will always be grateful for that. My sincerest condolences to Sean's family and friends.
