My thoughts and prayers are with the Collier family. As a graduate student that often works late nights, I am so thankful for the brave members of the MIT Police , like Sean, who keep us safe and sacrifice their own safety at this cost. I didn't know Sean, but from what I have heard and read, he seems like he was an absolute stand up man, who was kind, dedicated, helpful, and friendly, and devote his life to the cause of public safety. He will always be remembered.

Dear friends, family, and colleagues of Sean,
I offer my sincere condolences to you on your loss. I had never met Sean, but by all accounts Sean was a lovely person, and we need more people like him on this planet. As a member of MIT's community, I am grateful for his service, and for the service of all of our police. As a mother and a resident of the city of Somerville, my heart is filled with empathy for his family and friends in our city. I am grateful that this reign of terror is over, and hope that the world can warmly remember the fallen as we move forward.

I'm not a student from MIT. I'm not from Boston or Watertown. I'm not even American.
But like the rest of the world, I've heard of all the events that had happened in Massachusetts that week and of Mr Collier's terrible fate.
Probably like the rest of the world too, I saw his picture and... thought that he seemed a very kind man, which was confirmed after I read testimonies of all the students, professors and everyone that had known him.
It saddened me to find out that the life of a man capable of such generosity towards others and who took the Police Dep's famous motto "to protect and serve" at heart was taken so abruptly. Policemen and young men and women training to become so know the risks of the path they are on but still... No-one deserves to die in the line of duty. No-one.
May his family, friends and people who cared about him be strong in those sad moments and remember him as the great man he was.
Be all strong and remember all those sweet moments you shared with him and hold them close to your heart. Be brave. My heart's with you.

Sean, you served MIT incredibly and humbly. I wish I could better express the pain it causes me to see you give your life in service.
There's no greater love than this, that you laid down your life for this campus. I wish nothing but the best for your family, and pray that God will touch them in this healing process. You'll not be forgotten, Sean.

Thank you Sean for your service in protecting the MIT community... myself included. From patrolling the campus at large, to manning the crosswalk on Vassar Street by Building 38 as I headed home after classes, you and your fellow MIT police officers helped us feel safe.

I am truly saddened that I will never again be able to say "thank you" or "good night" as you halt traffic to allow me to cross the street. So, allow me to say "thank you" and "good night" to you Sean one last time.

Officer Collier lived his life in service to his fellow man. A selfless police officer who had nowhere to go but up in his career field. It's not only painstakingly difficult to fathom to Officer Collier's family, friends, loved ones, and the MIT community, but for the entire Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Sean Collier did not die in vain, he made the ultimate sacrifice so that the people of his city, community, state, and country can sleep a little safer at night knowing that there are men like Sean Collier out there in the line of duty, so that others may live.

Sean this was written for you - always happy and positive, always supportive and out and about:

Sei meines Mordes Klag erhoben!"
Er ruft es, und sein Auge bricht.

My sincerest condolences to the family of Officer Collier and to Chief Difava and the officers of the MIT police force.

As an MIT alum, I had the pleasure of being in MIT EMS as well as in the greek community, and my all my interactions and work with the MIT police demonstrated to me what the model of the "community" policing was. This was a senseless tragedy, and I hope everyone at MIT and Boston and farther abroad recognize the sacrifice Officer Collier made.
