My heartfelt sympathy to the Collier family, friends, and MIT Police. Sean made an impact on the MIT campus and was fulfilling a role he loved. Although he was taken away too early, may we all find solace in the fine service Sean gave and in the memories he created for so many.

My family and myself are deeply grieved to learn of the tragic death of MIT Police Officer Sean Collier and from Slovakia we all send our deepest sympathy and condolences to his family and to MIT community . In 2010-2011 we lived at Westgate apartment on Vassar Street and every morning after we got up, our little daughter looked out of the window at the MIT Police building in front of our windows to check out if MIT Police was guarding us well. Thank you Sean Collier! Thank you MIT Police! God bless you!

I ,like many other people, were very saddened to hear of Officer Sean Colliers passing. I had the pleasure of working with him years ago at a nearby restaurant and what a sweet and kind man he was. Althought it has been a few years since our paths have crossed, his kindness still resonates in my mind. May his family have strength through this very difficult time and cherish the sweet memories of their beloved son Sean. RIP!!

My son and I were visiting MIT the weekend immediately prior to the marathon, for Campus Preview Week. I had actually noted how amazing the security was on campus and how incredibly professional and present the MIT police were. If I did not see Officer Collier, I saw many of his colleauges and I applaud them all and thank them for their commitment to go above and beyond to protect the students, the faculty, the administration and our way of life, our freedom, in this country. G-d Bless Sean Collier. His life and sacrifice will become part of the MIT history and legacy. Our prayers for strength and support go out to his dear family and friends. We are so saddened that his life was cut so short by individuals who do not value life.

The MIT Police protect not just the campus residents, but the nearby community. As a resident of Kendall Square I saw the MIT Police conducting their work around the clock, in rain, in snow, in those wonderful Nor'Easter blizzards. One time, one sad and dark time, two MIT officers essentially saved my life. I have the greatest respect for the MIT police, and Officer Collier seems to embody the characteristics that make the MIT Police force such a great blessing to not just the campus, but Cambridge as a whole.

When I see the pictures of Officer Collier I see a man who is clearly caring, and I have to add sweet. From all I've read, he seem such a fundamentally good and decent man. The loss of such a good guy at such a young age is heartbreaking, but he made a difference.

I so wish he could have gone to Rainier and Denali. I hope that the Outing Club can memorialize him on these peaks. He deserved that, and the wretched criminals who stole his life can fade into oblivion.

Good does win; the caring heart can beat the darkness. Sean Collier should inspire us to live life to the fullest.

And as a father, I feel such pain at your loss. I hope G-d comforts you in these and future days.

Dear family of Officer Sean Colier: I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of your son, brother, brother-in-law. Sean was on duty Sunday night at a dorm party that my son attended. And Thursday night my husband was working the late shift. I am certain than my son and husband were safe on campus, night after night, as a result of the honorable work Sean did. I can only imagine the pain and suffering you are feeling at losing such an extraordinary young man. I hope you are strengthened by knowing what a fine, respected and loved young man you raised. The outpouring of grief and sadness is testament to how Sean touched so many lives. I know he has touched ours- he died protecting my husband, my son, and his friends. I will be forever grateful.

It is hard to find anything helpful to say at a time as sad as this. I did not have the honor to meet Office Collier, but I am sure that if I had, the sense of loss and sadness would be even greater. In all the years that I spent at MIT, the MIT Police Officers were a source of reassurance and a gentle, welcome presence. I am sure Officer Collier more than honored this tradition of gentle strength and love for duty. My sincerest condolences to his family on this very sad occasion.

My deepest sympathies and prayers go out to the loving friends, family and colleagues of Officer Collier. I did not have the privilege of knowing Sean, but I have been struck by the many wonderful testimonials and the outpouring of love for who he was and what he stood for as a person and as a member of this community. Though his life was tragically cut short way too soon, I hope that everyone can take some solace from the many prayers of support, and the memories.

At times like these, there are no words and no remedy for the loss and the pain that follows. The say that time heals all wounds, but that is not the case. Time only helps us to cope with the profound loss. I am so sorry for the loss of a good man, so young and intelligent and driven to his life's purpose. I grieve with his family and hope they find solace in whatever God guides them. I wish them peace.

It takes a special balance of freedom and security for the unique environment at MIT to thrive and survive. The MIT police department understands and fosters that balance. My experiences as a student with the MIT police were always positive. Even when they were putting a stop to our shenanigans, it was clear they had the students' best interests at heart.

Officer Collier proved that with his life.

The entire MIT community, past, present, and future, are in his debt. I offer Officer Collier's family and the MIT police my gratitude and condolences.
