As someone who has spent some time in our cellar "strong room" because of terrorist rocket attacks on Tel Aviv Israel, we appreciate deeply those who are involved in countering those attacks and more so, those who lose their lives in this fight. Your family deserves sympathy and condolences for his loss.

I am deeply saddened by Officer Collier's death. I wish his family the best in these terrible times. The MIT police are a special group, who probably do not hear "thank you" enough -- but they are a vital to the MIT community. It is tragic that one of these good men was taken by this senseless violence.

I graduated in MIT in 2009, but during my 4 years there I always felt safe. I trusted that MIT police officers were on the side of the students and wanted to protect us from harm. I want to express my thanks to Sean Collier and all the other brave men and women who keep us safe.

May God comfort you during this time of sorrow. Your sons memory is not tainted, but he will be honored for his part in stopping these "sick men," by giving his life!

As an MIT alum, I had fond memories of the MIT Police Department from my time at MIT. Every officer was friendly, approachable, professional, and supportive of students and student activities. Being a campus that literally never sleeps, MIT Police similarly has to stay awake at all hours of the day; Officer Collier's tragic death is a reminder of the important and invaluable work that they do. I offer my deep condolence to the family of Officer Collier and to the MIT Police Department. Thank you for your service.

I was an undergrad student at MIT from 2005-2009. While I left MIT before Officer Collier joined the force, I wanted to leave my sincerest condolences. MIT is a wonderful place, and I've always felt safe on campus because of the MIT Police. My deepest sympathies to the Collier family, and a big thanks to Sean Collier, his family, and the MIT/Boston/Cambridge Police force.

To the Collier family and friends:

I am truly saddened by the terrible chain of events that included the loss of your son, cousin, friend... We can only hope that his passing will come to mean something more to all of us and to help give purpose to those that currently sacrifice their lives to protect others as Sean did. Please find solace in your faith and support each other just like I imagine he would have wanted.

I recently graduated from MIT and had nothing but positive experiences with the MIT Police; they once went so far as to give me a ride to urgent care when I sprained my ankle and couldn't walk there myself. Though I didn't personally know Sean, I feel like I did, and I'm thankful to have had him as a part of the community. May he rest in peace. And may his family and friends find peace as well.

With my sincerest condolences,
Mike

Our family wishes to send to any small piece for comfort and love that you may find in this note. We are so very sorry Sean was caught in this horror that engulfed our city. We have always been incredibly proud of all our first responders who keep us safe and care so much for their city. We know that you as his family also made the sacrifice to keep us safe each time he walked out to do his job. We hope as a family of 3 that our message may allow you to know that we will always remember Sean, you his family and the ultimate sacrifice he made to keep us safe. We are keeping you in our hearts and hope you pull closer to one another to find solace and grace in this most horrific time.
